It’s the summer of 2002, and Winnie Winchester is a normal mother. She has the same highs, the same lows, and the same fears as any other mother of a fourteen-year-old girl. Of course, since she’s a witch – and her daughter can talk to ghosts – those fears are amplified to an unnatural degree.
When camp counselor Donna Wilder goes missing, Winnie volunteers her services (and those of her sisters and persnickety aunt) so the Winchester witches can take over the extended weekend camp.
Local police detective Terry Davenport is running the boys’ camp across the lake, and everyone is looking forward to a weekend of fun and frolicking.
It’s all going as planned until Bay Winchester does what she always does and sees a ghost. Like a stack of dominoes, things start falling and normal childhood hijinks turn into days of torture for Bay and her cousins, Clove and Thistle.
That’s on top of a visit from second-cousin Rosemary, who has the personality (and warmth) of a snake. The girl immediately aligns herself with Bay’s sworn enemy, which means things are going to be bad before they get even worse.
Bay is on a mission to help the ghost cross over, and it’s up to her mother and family to make sure she doesn’t get hurt in the process.
Note This is a short novella set in the Wicked Witches of the Midwest world. It is set back in time so you can't read it at any time. It is approximately 25,000 words, and will not take the place of regular installments in the series. It’s just a short snapshot so you can get to know some of the other characters in Hemlock Cove. Thank you for reading.

Another great story about the Winchester witches which consists of 3 sisters, their 3 daughters and 1 great aunt. This story is set at a summer cap when the cousins are teenagers and their moms and aunt are the councilors.
Every story about this group of women has a little mystery, a lot of humor, sarcasm, biting dialogue, great characters, and each is a stand alone...you don't have to read the others but you'll want too.,
Aunt Tilly is always a hoot, causing trouble, being sneakie and putting spells on people, usually the cousins, but not this time.
The 3 cousins are different from each other with different abilities and still trying to figure things out, but they are devoted to each other, and we get a glimpse of how it was for them growing up...especially Bay who talks to ghosts.
This is a short story which is great for when you don't have the time to devote to a full length book, but it still has all the charm and humor of the longer stories and has a sweet little surprise at the ending.l
I love reading and listening to stories about the Winchester witches and this is a nice addition
Enjoy!

You Only Witch Once A Wicked Witches of the Midwest Short eBook Amanda M Lee Reviews
I enjoyed seeing this side of the mothers. Aunt Tillie is a joy to read about. I enjoyed how Aunt Tillie made the curse that kept on giving. I liked reading the interaction with Terry and Bay. He really is the father to those girls and it makes you see a side of him that is only hinted at in the other books.
The surprise was the young boy named Landon. I would when it will come out that he had met they before. Cannot wait to read all about it when it comes out.
There were some aspects I loved like Aunt Tillie cursing the bad girls by making them ugly on the outside to match their inside. Bay dealing with a ghosts in her younger years and how alienated she was from others. Thistle and Clove were always ready to fight for her but back then she went off on her own a lot. The story just didn't flow for me like they normally do. It felt a bit forced.
This is a short about all th girls going to camp when they're about 14. Unfortunately, their mothers end up running the camp that year because the regular camp leader is nowhere to be found. Of course Lilila is there & a cousin they barely know so of course mayhem ensues. Don't want to give anything away but it's a great story and well worth reading if your fan of the series. Sheds new light on a couple of things. Well written as always and totally enjoyable!
I LOVE the snark and sarcastic humor, of these books. Add in the witchy subtext, and what could be better. I can't get enough of these books. I love these short back stories. I'd you like magic, humor, and powerful woman, characters, you will love these books.
The series is light hearted. Great humor. Some great lines. If you didn't like Harry Potter because of magic, ghosts, alternate views on religion this book is not for you. I love the character Aunt Tillie. Fun. Read some of one of the books to my husband and had him enjoying the humor making a long car trip home less. Mild sexual references.
boring. (Another words kept us from falling asleep.) He once to read them now. However Landon could have been an interesting character but is just into being irritating along with the bacon jokes.
I really enjoy reading this entire series. Having said that, this particular book IS a short story. There are not enough pages to go into a lengthy description of character and background. Some things are predictable--Thistle is snarky, Bay sees a ghost and Lila and Rosemary are already "evil". But, I expect to find these things in every Witches of the Midwest storyline. I don't think this would have much interest as a stand alone book, but, as part of the whole, I enjoyed it. There are a couple of surprises and it was nice to have a look back at a childhood episode.
As always Amanda delivers another great "short." There's humor, a touch of the paranormal, interpersonal and interpersonal life lessons, plenty of family loyalty, and a bit of drama. I really like that the shorts focus on different characters rather than just Bay. Of course, Aunt Tillie was in rare form and doled out appropriate cosmic, or that is "witchy," justice. It was a delightful read and I really appreciate the fact that Amanda, unlike a lot of authors, gives her fans much more than their money's worth when it come to the Series' "Shorts." You get a well written story with a good plot. This story was especially endearing to me because of the identity of one of the male campers. I had figured it out early on but it was still very sweet when revealed and I was left with an Ahhhh moment and a goofy smile on my face! If you like the Series you'll like this short story. I think that this might make a pretty good standalone read or maybe a way to try the Series for the first time. Buy it, Read it and Enjoy!!!
